Natale 2008 - N. 1

Avevamo la necessità di "raggiungere" anche coloro che per vari motivi non conoscono "Franza" il portale di Stefanaconi. Avevamo la necessità di trovare uno strumento che avvicinasse, ancora di più di quanto sta avvenendo su Internet, le comunità di stefanaconesi sparsi per il mondo. Avevamo la necessità di coinvolgere i tantissimi figli di emigrati stefanaconesi che, pur non parlando l'italiano, dimostrano un fortissimo attaccamento al luogo che ha dato i natali ai loro genitori.
Ecco perché è nato il giornale di Franza! Potremo così raggiungere una vastissima platea di "amici" che amano Stefanaconi. Ecco perché "Stefanaconi & Friends", che abbiamo preso in prestito dall'omonima festa che da anni è organizzata in Australia dal Comitato San Nicola dell'Italian Social Club di Altona. "Stefanaconi & Friends" proprio per sottolineare che il comune amore per Stefanaconi ci rende amici e ci fa sentire più vicini. Poi c'è la scelta della doppia lingua, italiano e inglese, che ci consentirà di coinvolgere i tanti figli di stefanaconesi che quasi non conoscono l'italiano ma che mantengono ben saldo il legame affettivo con la terra dei loro genitori. Sarebbe una impresa troppo improba tradurre questo giornale anche in spagnolo; avremmo voluto farlo perché certamente ci saranno molti figli di stefanaconesi che non parlano né l'italiano né l'inglese ma per l'organizzazione attuale del giornale è impossibile tradurlo in questa lingua: chissà che non si possa fare in futuro. È tramite il giornale che potremo coinvolgere i nostri emigrati anziani, poco o per nulla pratici di Internet, che potranno così raccontarci i loro ricordi, la loro vita vissuta all’estero (Australia, Canada, Stati Uniti, Argentina, ecc..) e ciò che accade oggigiorno nei paesi dove vivono. E questi nostri cari "amici" potranno sentirci e farsi sentire per mezzo di "Stefanaconi & Friends". Speriamo di essere degni della vostra attenzione. Grazie.

We felt the need to reach out to those who may not be aware of "Franza" the Stefanaconi portal. We wanted to extend our current Internet communication channel and hence find another avenue of uniting the “Stefanaconesi” scattered around the world with the goal to bring us closer together. We wanted to also reach out to the many children of the emigrants who may not speak Italian but feel a strong attachment to their parent’s origins and want to get to know more about their heritage. That is why Franza the newspaper has been born! This will allow us to reach out to a wider audience of "friends" who love Stefanaconi. We have borrowed "Stefanaconi & Friends" from the homonymous dinner dance that for years is organised in Australia by the San Nicola Italian Social Club of Altona. "Stefanaconi & Friends" has the objective to highlight the common love for Stefanaconi, build and grow friendships and allow us to shorten the distance between the Stefanaconesi around the world. We have chosen to publish in both Italian and English which will allow us to involve the many children of Stefanaconesi that may not speak Italian. This will allow them to maintain a strong tie to the land in which their parents were born. We would have also liked to translate this newspaper in Spanish since there are many children of Stefanaconesi that do not speak Italian or English. With the present resources available to the newspaper, it is not possible for us to also translate in Spanish, but we will try to make it a future goal. With the newspaper we hope to reach out to our older emigrants that might be less familiar with Internet. We are looking forward to have them share their stories, precious past memories, details on their transition to their life abroad (Australia, Canada, United States, Argentina, etc.) and current events in the countries where they live. We are inviting all our dear friends to communicate with us via “Stefanaconi & Friends”. We hope you enjoy the newspaper. Thanks.
